The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has unveiled a new digital innovation aimed at improving service delivery to millions of taxpayers — an official WhatsApp chatbot, available through the number 0711 099 999.
The WhatsApp bot, launched as part of KRA’s digital transformation strategy, allows users to conveniently access a range of tax-related services directly on their phones — without needing to visit iTax or make calls to KRA offices.
"We are committed to making tax services more accessible and user-friendly," said KRA Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga during the launch. "This bot is designed to respond to frequently asked questions and assist taxpayers around the clock."

🤖 What Services Can the KRA WhatsApp Bot Offer?
Taxpayers can now get instant assistance on:
💼 KRA PIN application and retrieval
🔑 Password reset steps for iTax
📅 Filing deadlines and reminders
📄 Tax compliance certificate status
📚 FAQs about PAYE, VAT, and returns
👩🏽💼 Contact center assistance
To use the service, simply save the number 0711 099 999 on your phone and send a message on WhatsApp — the chatbot will guide you from there.
📌 Why This Matters
The launch is expected to reduce congestion at KRA call centers and make information more accessible, especially to young and digital-savvy taxpayers. With over 23 million WhatsApp users in Kenya, KRA is tapping into a platform that’s already part of daily life.
“No more waiting on hold. Now, tax help is just a message away,” said a user who tried the service shortly after launch.
